Alma Aguado for Texas Governor

Dear Texans I am running for Governor for the great state Texas as well for the US Senate representing Texas, yes I am running two fronts because there is a great stake of human capital that is going to be the majority of the power force in years to come. I am talking about the Hispanic children that are the majority in Texas.

The Hispanic population has been injured by political exclusion and the fact is that we have had no Hispanic governor since Texas is Texas.

In Texas From the year 1990 to the year 2000 Hispanic children numbers grew 52% while non Hispanic children decreased by 1%. According to the census from Texas from the year 2008 Texas population was composed by 50% Hispanic children, 12% black and 32% white.

This children and their parents will more receptive to the leadership
of a governor who share same cultural views and traditions than to a European American Governor, The Hispanic American from Texas has been injured by political exclusion for many generations, the novelty and legitimacy of an Hispanic woman governor may bring some trust and confidence to dream again, as many of this children are raised by single parent and 90 % a single mother.
Politicians have not done anything for this vulnerable population, the less vocal, the most poor, with highest percent of school dropout and teen pregnancy, as In 2004 The US Census Bureau reported Young child poverty under 5 of 25.1 in Texas compared compared with 19.6 USA.

The problem is chronic, In the year 2000 under the Republican administration funds of Medicaid and CHIP funds were redirected favoring the Texas Enterprise Fund. In the year 2005 Medicaid and CHIP funds were restored again only to have funds diverted towards the $200 million Emerging Technology Fund.

The state's own Comptroller of Public Accounts points out that from the 1984-1985 state budget through the 2000-2001 the state increased real public safety and corrections spending by 258 percent, but increased real public and higher education spending by only 82 and 39 percent, respectively, Due to budgeting decisions in the best interest of corporate welfare under Republican administration now we have an uneducated non skilled not educated workforce.

The Texas 80th Legislature placed a band aid on the severity of last 10 years problems Texas citizens has endured, and only you voters can breake the cycle.

In Texas, health insurance premiums for families are about $1,551 higher due to the cost of caring for uninsured patients

43.9 percent in Texas under the age of 65 went without health insurance for all or part of the two-year period 2007-2008. Of the 9.3 million uninsured Texans, more than three-quarters (80.5 percent) went without health coverage for six months or longer duringthis period. (Families USA • March 2009)

The future of Texas cannot be neglected in hands of people who have not capability of tender or nurture, the future of Texas human capital the most valuable treasure that we have and nobody better than me to take care of.

“In the state of Texas this long term trend will have far reaching implications. Texas residents must accept this trend now when they have the opportunity to choose the right individual for governor now and must be aware that failure to do it so may result in an uneducated workforce, politically disengaged populace, social inequities that will be hard pressed to overcome. Scholars, government and political leaders must recognize that the Hispanic community through demographic will influence the future of the economy of the state the nation and the world”.
